WHY uPVC SASH

The right replacement for original timber sash windows.

Timber sashes look beautiful — until they don't. Rot, peeling paint, draughts and stuck sashes catch up with every period home eventually. uPVC sliders give you the same look, properly engineered for modern living.

Genuinely Energy Efficient

U-values from 1.4 — a world apart from single-glazed timber sashes. Warmer rooms in winter, less condensation, lower bills.

Authentic Timber Look

Astragal bars, decorative sash horns, slim mid-rails, traditional hardware — every detail engineered to read as timber from the street.

Properly Secure

Anti-jemmy bar in the cill, toughened glass as standard, key-operated cam locks on both sashes, plus travel restrictors. Not an afterthought.

AUTHENTIC DETAILING

The details that make uPVC look like timber.

This is where most uPVC sash windows fall down. Ours don't. Every one of these features is available — pick the combination that suits your property.

Mechanical joints.jpg

Mechanical joints

Fully mechanical 90° joints on both frame and sash — exactly as you'd find on a traditional timber window. No welded mitres giving the game away.

Deep bottom rail.jpg

Deep bottom rail option

For taller windows on grander properties — gives the proportions a more substantial, period-correct feel.

Slim midrail.jpg

Slim or standard mid-rail

The mid-rail is one of the giveaway details on cheap sashes. Ours come slim or standard — match what was there before for a proper period look.

Astragal bars

Multi-pane Georgian or Victorian configurations — six-over-six, two-over-two, or whatever the original design called for.

Runthrough Sash Horns.jpg

Run-through sash horns

Decorative horns on the meeting rail, built in rather than glued on. The classic Victorian/Edwardian flourish that signals authenticity.

Arched frames

Curved-top arched frames available for properties where the original openings call for it. We'll match the radius on survey.

HOW THEY WORK

Traditional sliding action — modern usability.

Looks like a Victorian sash from the outside. Behaves like a window from this century when you actually need to use it.

Both sashes slide up and down

Just like a wooden box sash — top and bottom both move, so you can ventilate from either end of the window.

Tilt inward for easy cleaning

Both sashes tilt inward, so you can clean the outside glass safely from inside the room. No ladders, no leaning out of upper-floor windows.

Travel restrictors

Restrict how far the sash opens — useful for child safety and for compliance on first-floor windows where there's a risk of falls.

No cords, no weights, no rattle

Modern spring-balance mechanism replaces the old cord-and-weight system. Smoother to operate and won't fail in a few years.
