It's easy to obsess over frames and colours, but the glass does most of the work — keeping heat in, noise out, and your furniture from fading. Here's what goes into the units we fit, and how to choose the right level for your home.
AS STANDARD

Before you even get to the upgrades, this is the baseline on every double and triple-glazed unit we supply — engineered into the frame so the glass performs as it should.
Low-E
A smart low-emissivity coating traps and holds heat inside, rather than letting it escape through the glass.
Argon
The cavity between panes is filled with argon — a gas denser than air that forms a far better insulating barrier.
Warm Edge
Warm-edge spacer bars hold the panes apart and keep the cold outside air away from the warm inside.
DOUBLE OR TRIPLE?
Two panes or three?
For most homes, good double glazing with the right coating does the job beautifully. Triple glazing earns its place in specific situations — very exposed spots, large glazed areas, or where you want every last bit of insulation and noise reduction.

Two panes with an argon-filled cavity. The standard for replacement windows across the UK, and the right choice for the vast majority of homes.

What the upgrades actually do.
In plain terms — here's what each layer is for, so you can work out which matters for your home.
Enhanced Security
A high-security transparent layer on Advanced and Ultimate Living makes the glass much tougher to break through than standard glass. Fitted in an approved frame, it's designed to meet the police 'Secured by Design' standard.
A quieter home
A built-in acoustic layer keeps exterior noise where it belongs — outside. If you're on a busy road, near a railway, or under a flight path, noise-control glazing is worth putting on your list.
Sun-block for your sofa
Prolonged UV fades furniture, curtains and carpets over time. The hidden layer on Comfort and Comfort Plus blocks out 99% of the sun's UV rays — think of it as sun cream for the room.
No more over-heating
Lots of glass gives a great view but can make a room uncomfortably hot. Comfort Plus has a solar-control coating that keeps the heat out — particularly suited to south- and west-facing rooms, and larger areas like bi-folds and patio doors.
